What is a Psychologist?
What is the difference between a Counselling and Clinical Psychologist? A Counselling Psychologist utilizes evidence-based research to provide counselling intervention that are specifically tailored to each individual. All Counselling Psychologists in Ontario require a PhD level education of university and post university training, continually update their qualifications and are always subject to some form of supervision.
Clinical Psychologists are responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental health disorders. Clinical psychology consists of scientific research to inform evidence-based practice, and clinical service, which focuses on enhancing the well-being of patients. All Clinical Psychologists in Ontario require a PhD level education of university and receive training even after this concludes, they continually update their qualifications and are always subject to some form of supervision.
At Mind + Zest, we have several clinical and counselling psychologists accepting new clients. We offer online counselling and psychotherapy services. Your weekly sessions are typically long-term, and are usually eye-opening, enabling you to grow and flourish. In therapy, not only will you achieve your current goals, but our team of psychologists and mental health practitioners will help you learn more about yourself and push you past the things that are holding you back. In your weekly sessions, we may use things like cognitive behavioural therapy (which is commonly known as CBT), existential psychotherapy, and/or psychodynamic psychotherapy. We may also use assessments or quizzes to identify what approach is optimal for you and, in some cases, where the exact problems lie if you are uncertain. We can help with an extensive range of topics and difficulties including anger management, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, grief, obsessive-compulsive tendencies, phobias, self-esteem issues, stress, substance abuse/use, and trauma.
Our Psychologists at Mind + Zest are registered with the Office of the Professions of Ontario. They are clinical and counselling psychologists who are dedicated in your development and growth in the therapeutic space. We also have several Master’s and Doctoral level Counselors and Social Workers who work under the supervision of these psychologists. To ensure that you have the very best experience, every practitioner at Mind + Zest is supervised by a licensed psychologist.
