What is Online Counselling?
Counselling is the process of speaking with a trained professional to resolve personal, career related, social or internal issues you may be facing. The best counselors are those that not only have broad and extensive training, but also understand that a foundation of trust and confidence must be established with their client.
The counselors at Mind + Zest employ a variety of therapeutic techniques to address areas of distress and mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, grief, self-esteem, career difficulties, and interpersonal problems.
Many of our counselling services are covered under health insurance plans and fall under “Psychological Services” or “Psychotherapeutic Services”. Here at Mind + Zest, our counselors are armed with the tools to guide you through your mental health journey in a safe, professional and comforting environment.
Although psychotherapy and counseling are slightly different, the two can be used together to deliver an effective treatment plan that is tailored specifically for your goals and needs.
What are some of the types of Counselling We Offer?
- Adlerian Counselling

How do I know if Counselling will benefit me?
Counselling is effective in treating a wide range of issues, such as major life changes, mental health issues, identity issues, and goal setting.
Studies have shown that counselling can increase levels of happiness, motivation and overall wellbeing, and decrease levels of stress. At our practice, we deal with a wide range of topics that include: abuse, addiction, anger management, bereavement, burnout, divorce, eating disorders, grief, interpersonal problems, phobias, self-esteem issues, sexual identity issues, stress, substance use and abuse, and trauma.
The Counselling Relationship
Research has demonstrated that one of the most important predictors to obtain success in therapy and counselling is the relationship between you and your therapist. At Mind + Zest, we prioritize these relationships.
Upon your first visit, you begin with a complimentary 15-minute intake session with one of our intake specialists to determine the best course of action, your treatment plan, and understanding your goals and expectations for therapy/counseling. Most importantly, we aim to recommend a therapist that is the best possible match for you.
Our counselors will collaborate with you to develop a therapeutic plan tailored to your strengths, goals, and desired areas of change. We actively check in to make sure the course of action is working for you.
By the end, we hope you'll have a sense that you've overcome significant issues in your life and that you notice new feelings and changes in your behaviours. Ideally, you'll see an increase in energy, mood, enthusiasm, motivation, general well-being, and interest, and you will gain the confidence to tackle new challenges on your own.
Successful counselling also depends on sustaining contact and momentum with your counselor. By regularly attending sessions, progression and healing is attained faster than when sessions are spread far apart or occur irregularly. Most of our clients find weekly sessions the most productive, while some individuals find bi-weekly or twice-a-week sessions most effective.
